Years 9/10 Parliamentary Debates @ the ACT Legislative Assembly
On Friday, 26 August, four representatives from the Years 9/10 class went to the ACT Legislative Assembly. The event was the annual inter-school debating day, where representatives from various schools all over the ACT meet up at the Legislative Assembly to debate modern day issues in a parliamentary style. The two debates our team was involved in were ‘Bulk Billing Should Be Means Tested’ and ‘Individuals in a Hung Parliament Provide a Necessary Diversity of Values’. It was a great day with some excellent speeches and feedback. Everyone was friendly and there was a good spread for morning tea. The experience gained from debating and the feedback received from the respective speakers was excellent and, needless to say, it was a great day of learning and experience in debating for all involved.
