From the Principal
Dear prospective Parents and Guardians
Covenant Christian School offers a unique educational experience founded on the principles taught in the Bible, which we believe to be the Word of God. Our commitment to Christian education shapes everything we do, from our curriculum and teaching practices to the character we seek to cultivate in our students. In recent years, we have embraced a classical approach to Christian education out of the conviction that it provides a strong foundation for fulfilling our School’s Mission and Vision. This approach combines academic rigour with the development of godly character, drawing on the rich intellectual and cultural heritage of the Western tradition and its Christian roots.
A classical approach to Christian education builds on an educational tradition extending from ancient Greece and Rome through the medieval period and into the modern period. It seeks to cultivate wisdom, virtue and a love of learning by engaging students with the enduring ideas, texts and traditions that have shaped our world. We are excited to be part of the current worldwide renewal of classical Christian education happening here in Australia, and also internationally, particularly in the US.
Our goal is to see our students grow into the sort of graduate who loves God, who loves their neighbour, who knows what it is to pursue excellence, and who displays the knowledge, wisdom and character of a Godly scholar. Our Profile of a Graduate describes these aspirations in greater detail and guides our work as educators.
Our academic programme is built on strong foundations and tried-and-tested teaching practices. We value clear instruction, structured learning and the careful development of knowledge and skills. From Kindergarten, students participate in the LEM Phonics reading programme, which provides a systematic foundation for literacy. In mathematics, we place a strong emphasis on developing fluency in mathematical facts and mastering essential skills throughout the Primary years. These foundations equip students for continued learning and academic growth as they progress through the School.
Thank you for your interest in Covenant Christian School. We would love the opportunity to welcome you and your child for a school tour, where you can meet members of our community, explore our learning environments and learn more about our approach to education.
Yours in Christ,
Martin Keast
