Academic Performance
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is the national benchmark testing that takes place each May across Australia.
Students in Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 sit NAPLAN tests in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. Results are issued to parents and published on the MySchool website. While this testing is a useful tool, we note that NAPLAN results provide only one aspect of academic progress, and that there are many factors to be taken into consideration when measuring success.
Many students can be challenged by various learning difficulties, and we are so pleased for students who achieve to their own personal best, overcoming individual struggles to achieve better results according to their own capabilities.
Students who have recently arrived from overseas with minimal English skills may also need time to gain those skills and achieve their true potential.

How do we measure up?
We have consistently met or exceeded the national benchmarks in all testing categories (see the the School’s Annual Report or log into the MySchool website: https://www.myschool.edu.au/). While the School has excelled academically, we don’t believe it is the most important thing. Covenant Christian School’s purpose, as stated in our Constitution, “to encourage … the pursuit and dissemination of true Christian scholarship in all areas of the school’s curriculum and interest, so as to establish a truly Christian world view in all disciplines of life,” is what really matters.
We also work hard with those students who will consistently achieve below benchmarks, but still work to their own personal best.
